Happiness
Why is it readily available to some people and non-existent to others? To some people happiness is something they engage in daily, and it seems like they walk around with a light around them that shines in any situation they experience, good or bad. Unfortunately for others happiness is something they rarely experience; they expect tragedy to hit them at every corner. As soon as something happens to make them happy, they panic in fear that any second it will be ripped from them, and throw them back into the unhappy state where they are actually the most comfortable… even though they may never admit it. On the other hand, there are those that stress themselves out daily waiting for happiness to arrive. Waiting to reach a goal, find love, have money, move into a bigger house, etc…. happiness is elusive and only shows its face for a split second before it disappears into the wind, pushed to the side until they feel they have done something new to deserve to be happy again. Depending on what is going on in my life, I can fall into any of these three categories at any random time. I try to remain in the first category; continue to be optimistic and enjoy life as it comes but sometimes I fall into the trap and experience moments of sadness or incompetence. Its almost like I don’t feel like I’ve done enough to deserve to be consistently happy. In my heart I know thats a lie, everyone deserves happiness… happiness is not something that is only available to those that are wealthy, or religious, or wildly successful. It’s a gift; and its here for everyone who insists on having it in their lives. Happiness isn’t waiting for us to find it, its waiting for us to believe we deserve it and receive it. I don’t want to waste any more time waiting for something that I was born with a right to be.
